I was a San Joaquin valley girl before moving to Mariposa and would frequently drive up to the Sierra Foothills simply to have lunch. I could never get used to the valley fog so I would drive up the hill where I knew I would find warm sunshine and beautiful blue skies. But it wasn't only the scenery and peacefulness that brought me up to live in Mariposa 16 years ago; I also wanted my son (then in middle school) to experience a small town "country school". And I yearned to live where folks knew my name and where I would have the feeling of real community. I quickly found many differences compared to the San Joaquin valley town where I lived for 30 years. No gangs, no graffiti and every one knows everyone. I love that Mariposa has FOUR SEASONS and the entrance to Yosemite National Park is 45 minutes away. You really don't notice it at first, but after a while you realize there is no airplane or traffic noise. Only the occasional helicopter or siren off somewhere for a fire or medical emergency. The simple homey things like the sounds of the bell ringing at the Historical Courthouse every hour is music to my ears, and the fact that the local newspaper only comes out once a week are part of the feeling of stepping back in time. I will say that living in Mariposa is refreshing and very enjoyable and I feel grateful and Blessed... Did I mention how clear the stars are at night? I've spent most of my life working in an office doing "secretary type" work, but my heart kept telling me I needed more adventure and with my drive and independent spirit I knew that selling Real Estate was for me. I work with my partner Cary Griffith (Cowboy Realtor). He specializes in ranch property and land. As for my personal interests I am pretty simple. I love horses, hiking, fishing and spending time with my kids and grand- children. I also attend Yosemite Church in Merced.
